The Easy, Non-Technical Approach to SEO Marketing
Why is keyword research so important to an SEO marketing campaign? Keyword research is important because, this is where your visitors will be coming from. Pick about 50 search phrases. Now look at the volume. How much traffic can you get to your website for each term? What kind of competition do you have? Take the 50 keyword phrases and develop some content on your website.
Here are some SEO training tips I’ve learned. I use a pay-per-click campaign to test all of my keywords. I come up with a list of which ones where clicked on a lot and which ones were not. I needle down a return on investment. The keywords that produced a lot of links I’ll work with. Buy now my keyword list is down to 25 words.
These are the keywords that will make me money. The keywords that I cut out I don’t use. No point in it when you have better search terms.
I work with the longer tailed keywords first and write content around them. Ranking for the longer tailed keywords are easier because you don’t have that much competition. Now I’ll work my way up my list. My activities now consist of building links, writing articles and social bookmarking.
By this time I’m already ranking for the longer tailed keywords. Now I’ll work on the words that are left on my list. They are usually more competitive. My job is easy ranking for the longer tailed keywords and if I do this job correctly the others won’t be that much of a problem either.
Now I’ll repeat this process until I have about 300 keyword phrases. I’ll put more content up on my website. I prefer working harder on my off page optimization than my on page optimization. When I write articles for testing, I put great content in. People that come to your website want to be wowed by the content that is up. It’s at this time that I’ll look to sell someone else’s product.
When you put up your blog, the articles don’t have to be very long. I prefer short, sweet and to the point. I just don’t think people when they are surfing on the internet want to be reading long articles so I shorten them up a bit. Now I’ll ask the visitor to do something like sign up for my mailing list. This will give me a good idea if I can convert someone into a sale at a later time frame. Come up with several different things for the visitor to do. Sometimes you can put a product in your content to see if that sells. But always get their name on a list so you can go back and work on them at a later time. So in your SEO marketing plan if you take the time to generate a good quality keyword list, you’ll find that this task is half the battle.
