Internet Marketing Strategy – The Best And Worst Places to Advertise Online

by , under Maine SEO

In any Internet marketing strategy you want more business, more customers and increased profits, but you may be confused about where should you advertise on-line?

In my experience, there are generally some good ways and some bad ways to advertise on-line. However, I must stress however that whether my guideline applies to you is dependent upon your overall Internet market strategy and target audience. In addition, you must test and track your results. And tracking results on-line is what the Internet is good at, so take full advantage of all the tracking methods which are freely available. 2

The main key, which I cannot emphasize strongly enough, is to write down your target metric(s) and then test, track and modify/delete your campaign accordingly. Remember the power of the Internet is that you can track virtually everything! 2

Worst Places to advertise

* Scam agencies who use SPAM listings offering to send emails (solo or sponsored ads) to thousands or millions of addresses.
* Inappropriate websites (sex, racist, or offensive) or low quality business directories who most likely charge the highest fee that they can get away with.
* Yellow pages, local paper websites or any old print editions that have gone on-line – Nearly all of these old media models have tried to duplicate their print editions on-line without success.
* Banner ads charged on CPM where your ad appears below the fold – In such places, impressions on your ad are counted but most likely your target audience will never scroll down to see your ad. For more information visit internet marketing

* Specific well researched websites covering your target audience. You can approach them directly or use Google Content Network by specifying certain sites.
* High quality paid or free directories.
* Google Business Maps.

* Google’s Gmail network – This is where your ad will show up when people type in your keyword in the email accounts.
* Social networking bookmark sites.
* Specific forums related to your industry.
* Top blogs related to your market sector. Check out www.alltop.com, this lists the top 100 blogs in most markets. You an either advertise on the website directly or make a useful comment with a link back to your site.
* Video upload sites – especially YouTube.
* Article directories like Hubpages, Ezinearticles and Articlebase. Here you will need to write an interesting article and direct traffic to your website. You cannot advertise directly.
* Podcast sites – Upload audio files that carry interesting information from your videos. For instance, it could be a recording of a client’s telephone conversation that would carry a lot of value for your target audience. For more information visit internet marketing
